Indian food is basically known for its spices and richness- think heavy gravies, curries and so on!
The basics of Indian food include rice, roti, dal and this is a staple meal for many.
However, a fatty diet comprising fried stuff like puris, pakoras, and kachoris is also very common in the Indian household and this has to be changed due to the rapid rise of unhealthy options like burgers and pizzas because of low prices and easy availability.

Due to our urban lifestyle, we often miss our meals and breakfast is the most important one which we skip, almost regularly! We should not skip our breakfast as after 8 hours of sleeping, our body requires energy for the day. Breakfast should be heavy and nourishing and fried food should be avoided at any cost. Breakfast boosts energy level, improves mood and memory and also burns calories! Consume 3-4 almonds as a part of your breakfast, a glass of juice, a boiled egg or just oats!
Include More Vegetables:
The average Indian diet should involve the increase of fruit consumption by 51.5 g per day and vegetable consumption by 17.5 g per day. Leafy vegetables like spinach and cabbage should be consumed even more to maintain overall health. Seasonal vegetables should be bought too, as they help you to fight against harmful viruses.
Reduce Consumption of Poultry:
Poultry should be consumed at a balanced level and the intake should be maximum 3 times a week. Although eggs can be eaten daily, chicken and other poultry meat should be restricted. 13% reduction in a poultry diet also reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
Eat 3 Hours Before Sleeping:
Dinner should be kept light and eaten 3 hours before sleeping as this change will help you to sleep better, fight diseases and nourish you better. Eat 2 rotis or maybe just a bowl of rice with daal for dinner!Stop binge-eating late night snacks as this leads to obesity and stomach disorders as well. Your sleeping patterns are directly linked to your dietary requirements as well.
Avoid Junk Food:
We can’t stress this enough. Avoid junk foods that are high in fat and sugar as they contain empty calories which lead to long-term diseases and disorders. Junk foods like burgers, deep-fried meat, pizzas and pakoras fill you up momentarily with no health benefits!
